I would say Sushi is one of my favorite foods. I am a bit weird as my top 3 foods probably include Sushi, BBQ and Taco Pizza. I know weird. But at least we have some wonderful Sushi locations here in Central Iowa to choose from. Whenever I am in the mood to go in and eat or grab take-out, these restaurants do the trick for me.
Sakari Sushi Lounge – Located on Ingersoll Avenue in Des Moines, Sakari has been one of my favorites for a long, long time! They have a long list of different Sushi to try, but my all time favorite has to be the Iowa Surf and Turf. It has bacon, tempura shrimp, cream cheese, avocado, then it’s topped with Top Sirloin Steak, spicy mayo, Unagi, scallions and bacon crumbles! Just typing this is making me hungry. Like I said, long list of varieties to try, so this is a must try restaurant!
Wasabi – With 5 restaurants in the Central Iowa area, Wasabi has you covered. I have to admit I have only been to the Waukee location and the Des Moines location (several times). But with those two locations I have always had great sushi to eat. While all there sushi has been good, I recommend trying the Angry Dragon. It has Spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, mango topped with spicy crab and yuzu miso sauce. YUM!
Hana Ramen Sushi – Located in West Des Moines across from Jordan Creek Mall, this restaurant is always one of my favorites! Their Mango Tango always makes my taste buds explode and makes me happy. It has in it Shrimp tempura, lobster salad, asparagus inside, wrapped green soy paper, topped with mango, red and black tobiko and chef’s special sauce. Once again lots of options here, but so far all their sushi has been good. Give it a try!
Sakura Sushi – This restaurant is located in West Des Moines in Outlet Strip that includes Hy-Vee right by on Grand Avenue. I really enjoy their Dynamite Roll which includes deep- fried white tuna tempura, eel, crab, cream cheese and avocado. You also can’t go wrong with Gyoza for an appetizer!
So there is my top 4 choices for Sushi in Central Iowa. I have obviously tried other places around town. But these are the 4 I would always go back for more! Do you have a favorite place for Sushi in Central Iowa? Leave a reply down below and let us know!
